Mizpah became a official Shrine Center on April 12th, 1910.  Mizpah means, “May the Lord watch between thee and me while we are absent one from another”.   For Fraternal fundraising we have a Shrine Circus at the end of January, which is held at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  We have 1 show for school kids from around the area, that is paid for entirely by Shriners.  We also have 6 shows that are open to the public.  We have the Sportsman Raffle each September, which is held at the Mizpah Horse Show Grounds, which is just north of Columbia City, Indiana. We raffle off 100 guns in 5 hours.  A ticket for the gun raffle gets a person into to the day of the drawing which includes 1 ticket into the drawing, hamburgers, hotdogs, camel’s milk, and pop. Many of our units and clubs also have drawings that day.  Some of the items that are raffled off include a wheelbarrow full of booze, kayaks, gun safe, smoker, and numerous other items.  We also have multiple 50/50 raffles at that event.   Mizpah also has multiple fundraisers specifically for the hospitals and transportation funds.  Those include Onion sales in early May, the GLSA Salmon Derby in May, a Charity Horse Show in August, and a Fly-in breakfast in September.  We have 5 vans owned by the Shrine Center that the Hospital Unit Drivers take to the Chicago and Dayton Hospitals.  We have a very nice Ballroom in our Shrine Center that we have partnered with Goeglein’s Catering to rent out to the public.  Mizpah has many parade units that participate in local parades throughout Northeast Indiana.
