New Membership Awards Program Boosts Chapter Incentives

Shriners celebrating after receiving awards

Introducing the New Membership Awards Program

Over the past 150 years, Shriners International has built an important and longstanding tradition of fun, fellowship and philanthropy – a tradition that continues to expand around the world and across multiple generations. Growing our membership is a major priority of Shriners International, as recruitment and retention are key to maintaining a strong fraternity, and ensuring that strength far into the future.

As part of those efforts, Shriners International has enhanced its Membership Awards program, offering greater incentives for even higher achievements. The goal of the updated program is to reward and recognize chapters that successfully prioritize and grow their membership, while reinforcing the operational practices at a local level that, when pursued, result in membership growth.

Membership Hall of Fame Awards:

Platinum Temples *NEW*

  • Goal: Incentivize chapters with existing membership growth to strive for – and achieve – a higher level of membership growth by close of the calendar year.
  • Criteria: ≥ 3% increase in Net Positive Membership Growth
    • Example: Dec. 31, 2022: 100 Total Members / Dec. 31, 2023: 103 Total Members
  • Recognition: Chapters will be recognized at Imperial Session, via an engraved plaque displayed at Shriners International Headquarters, and featured on Shriners International’s social media pages, website and in Shriner Magazine as having been inducted into the Membership Hall of Fame. Additionally each chapter receives a plaque and banner.

Gold Temples

  • Goal: Incentivize chapters to transition from losing members to a minimum of +1 member net positive membership growth by close of the calendar year.
  • Criteria: +1 in Net Positive Membership Growth.
    • Example: Dec. 31, 2022: 100 Total Members / Dec. 31, 2023: 101 Total Members
  • Recognition: Chapters will be recognized at Imperial Session, via an engraved plaque displayed at Shriners International Headquarters, and featured on Shriners International’s social media pages, website and in Shriner Magazine as having been inducted into the Membership Hall of Fame. Additionally, each chapter receives a plaque and banner.

*Chapters with net positive membership growth may qualify for either Gold or Platinum status, but not both.

Membership Certificate Awards: *NEW*

The Membership Certificate Awards are a new set of recognitions that incentivize chapters to demonstrate success and/or improvement in the pursuit of regular, meaningful and established membership metrics and process.

Conversion Excellence *NEW*

  • Goal: Incentivize chapters to utilize the beashrinernow.com system as an integral tool designed to successfully supplement their recruitment efforts.
  • Criteria: Achieve both a 65% Master Mason Conversion Rate and a minimum of 10 successful conversions of ePetitions by end of the calendar year.
  • Recognition: A digital certificate recognizing the accomplishment will be electronically sent to the chapter Recorder and Potentate in the month of February. This certificate can be printed and displayed at the local chapter. Additional recognition includes being featured on Shriners International’s social media pages and website.

Creation Excellence *NEW*

  • Goal: Incentivize chapters to identify, prioritize and accomplish key membership-related metrics that support a well-rounded membership success, including new Creations.
  • Criteria: Achieve 5% or more of a chapter’s total membership (as of January 1) in Creations ONLY during the calendar year.
  • Recognition: A digital certificate recognizing the accomplishment will be electronically sent to the chapter Recorder and Potentate in the month of February. This certificate can be printed and displayed at the local chapter. Additional recognition includes being featured on Shriners International’s social media pages and website.

Shriners International looks forward to welcoming more good men into our brotherhood, and continuing to share our time-honored tradition of fun, fellowship and philanthropy far into the future. For more information about becoming a Shriner, please visit beashrinernow.com.
