hello welcome nobles ladies and everyone in our global extended shriners family i'm honored to be a part of this exciting facebook live event the announcement of the winners of the 2021 dromedary awards competition thank you for your patience as we had to extend the deadline once again this year we understand that our temples are still feeling the effects of the international pandemic and we wanted to give everyone extra time to submit their entries the drummer awards were first introduced in 1989 and 32 years later we are still recognizing and awarding temples for their excellence in communications a lot has changed in the world since that first competition in which we had only print publications as a mean of as a means of communicating the world has gone digital and we've added four categories to reflect that including websites email communications facebook and most recently instagram we still have a lot of great temple magazines and newspapers out there but they are supplemented by digital communications i'm proud of all of our nobles who create content for produce and maintain these communication pieces it's a lot of work and most the people who run them are doing so as volunteers on top of other job responsibilities and and life commitments but they choose to do so because the shrine is important to them and communication is essential to the continuation of our organization thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our winners please welcome ashley ozil's from our marketing department thank you john before we start today i would like to tell you a little bit more about the competition like john mentioned the dromedary awards recognizes excellence in temple communications temples have the chance to showcase their best communication pieces in six categories a panel of impartial judges representing shriners international reviews each entry and provides the temple with both positive feedback and constructive criticism to help improve their temple efforts the judges then choose two winners and two honorable mentions from each category this year we also created the new to the oasis awards to acknowledge temples that have either never entered or have not entered in the past five dromedary awards competitions in a particular category which apply to all categories except instagram on behalf of the marketing and communications team at shriners international headquarters i want to thank all of our incredible temples from around the world that entered this year's dromedary awards competition we know times have not been easy but we applaud all of your efforts to still maintain and even improve your communication pieces especially during these uncertain times when staying in touch with one another is so important and now the moments you've all been waiting for i am honored to present to you the winners and honorable mentions for the 2021 shriners international dromedary awards in the category of newsletters and newspapers the winners are ali shriners from savannah georgia with their publication the fez aleppo shriners from wilmington massachusetts with their publication aleppo shriners news and the honorable mentions are cartoon shriners from winnipeg manitoba canada with their publication khartoum chronicle oasis shriners from charlotte north carolina with their publication desert dust and the new to the oasis winner is kazeem shriners from roanoke virginia with their publication kazemer in the category of magazines the winners are murad shriners from indianapolis indiana with their publication mira magazine sudan shriners from new bern north carolina with their publication red fez and the honorable mentions are boomi shriners from baltimore maryland with their publication boomi news magazine kina shriners from manassas virginia with their publication the kinagram and the new to the oasis award goes to bechtash shriners from concord new hampshire with their publication the bechtash news in the category of websites the winners are keena shriners from manassas virginia with their website kina.org kadiv shriners from chesapeake virginia with their website kadeevshrine.org and the honorable mentions are aloha shriners from honolulu hawaii with their website aloha shriners.org tunis shriners from ottawa ontario canada with their website tunis179.org
