Imperial Sir Claypool appointed Imperial Recorder of Shriners International

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Imperial Sir Charles A. “Tad” Claypool has been appointed to serve as Imperial Recorder of Shriners International following the unexpected passing of Imperial Sir Jack H. Jones, who served in that capacity for more than 35 years. Imperial Sir Claypool served as Imperial Potentate of Shriners International from 2002 to 2003, and is an emeritus member of the Board of Trustees of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Imperial Sir Claypool will serve as a member of the Boards of Directors of Shriners International and Shriners Hospitals for Children until his successor is elected at the 2017 Imperial Session of Shriners International, to be held in Daytona Beach, Florida, in July. He will not be a candidate for that office in that election.

“Imperial Sir Tad has a great deal of experience in working on the boards of the fraternity and the charity,” said Imperial Potentate Chris Smith. “His selection was the result of a consensus of the current members of those boards.”

Claypool’s appointment is effective immediately. He will promptly begin work on preparations for credentialing, the call and the conduct of business at the 2017 Imperial Session of Shriners International.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as Imperial Recorder,” said Claypool. “Having served with Imperial Sir Jack Jones for a number of years, I understand the importance of succeeding him for the remainder of his term.”
