Noble Ron Ellenson Named Shriner of the Month
Noble Ron Ellenson of Al Kader Shriners in Wilsonville, Ore., has been named Shriner of the Month for May 2015. The award program was developed by the leadership of Shriners International to honor outstanding nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children.
An Active, 50-year Blue Lodge Mason
For many years, Noble Ellenson has been a very active member of his Blue Lodge, Waluga 181 in Lake Oswego, Ore., as well as an active member of several concordant bodies of Masonry. He began his Masonic relationships as a youth in DeMolay International, and he is currently an active member of DeMolay Legion of Honor. He received his 50-year Masonic jewel from the Grand Lodge of Oregon, and he is also a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, Portland Valley. He is additionally active in the order of Quetzalcoatl, and a longtime member of Eastern Star.
A Distinguished Fraternal Career
In addition to being a member of Al Kader Shriners, Noble Ellenson is an associate member of Al Malaikah Shriners in Los Angles, following a family tradition as a fourth-generation Shriners International legacy.

Al Kader is a gold temple in membership due to efforts by dedicated members like Noble Ellenson.
As Potentate’s Representative at a Shrine Club near Portland, Ore., Noble Ellenson was especially instrumental, along with a past club officer, in urging Masonic Lodge members to become Shiners. These efforts resulted in seven new Shriners joining the club.
A Proud Supporter of Our Philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children
Noble Ellenson provides a positive financial foundation for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland, which continues to be his mission. He is very involved in fundraising efforts to help support the Portland Shriners Hospital.
He is an active member of Quetzalcoatl #46, and is involved in personally raising funds each year by selling flower baskets for the hospital patient transportation fund.
Noble Ellenson has created a wide-array of community support for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He was instrumental in organizing a group of neighborhood professionals to form a committee, Bringing in Joy from the Neighborhoodsm, which collected gifts for the children receiving care at the Portland Shriners Hospital. This project lasted for eight years and collected more than 5,000 gifts for patients. During this time there was a large amount of media coverage on the project, which shined a favorable light on Shriners International’s mission to help kids.
Noble Ellenson is an active participant in many temple activities, and is a longtime member of the “Kader Klowns” unit, often visiting patients at the Portland Shriners Hospital and leaving a presence in the community at birthday parties, parades and circus events as his character “Roneee” the clown.
Endless Displays of Leadership
Noble Ellenson first attended the Shrine Circus and Fundraising Association (SCAFRA) Annual Seminar in Columbus, Ohio when he was a member of the Al Kader Divan. He was elected onto the SCAFRA line, and eventually became President. During the year he served as President, he staged one of the most successful SCAFRA conventions. He was awarded the Imperial Potentates’ Medallion for his accomplishments in SCAFRA leadership.
Noble Ellenson has served on Al Kader’s Divan and as Director of Units, and has coordinated the temple’s participation in community parades around the state, including the annual parade preceding the EW All Star Football game in Baker City, Ore. He has also served as Chairman of Al Kader’s annual family picnic and the Portland Shrine circus and satellite circuses around the state of Oregon, and as president of a local Shrine Club.
An Advocate for his Temple
Noble Ellenson has been a major supporter of Al Kader’s ceremonials, creating new members supporting his commitment to the importance of advancing Shriners International. He designed programs that honor deserving nobles at several performances, and has supported the Oregon Shrine All-star Football Game and Pageant by selling program game books for the event.
As a member on the long-range planning committee, Noble Ellenson’s fundraising ideas have helped target new projects to raise fraternal funds. Today, Al Kader’s fundraising efforts include a haunted house, a portable service kitchen for Oktoberfest and a sports car raffle.
“He is truly an ‘Unsung Hero’ of Shiners International, always helping behind the scenes, without much recognition,” said Bob Walliker, Past Potentate of Al Kader Shriners. “Over a long career, he has unselfishly given his time, talent and means to support our fraternity and philanthropy as well. He is truly deserving of the Shriner of the Month award.”
Congratulations to Noble Ellenson for his achievements and for being chosen as Shriner of the Month.
