Noble George C. Alex of Orak Shriners in Michigan City, Ind., has been named Shriner of the Month for December 2014. The award program was developed by the leadership of Shriners International to honor outstanding nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®.
An Important Figure in his Community
Noble Alex of Portage, Ind., became a member of Orak Shriners in1996. He later joined his temple’s Arab Patrol, and he is currently president of the Hobart Shrine Club and a member of the South Lake County Shrine Club. Throughout the years, Noble Alex has also been an active participant in all his temple’s parade events, making his mark on the community.
Noble Alex also serves his philanthropy as the transportation chairman for Orak Shriners and as a hospital usher. A valuable asset to children and their families, he has made countless trips with patients to both Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago and Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati. He has also been instrumental in obtaining the donation of two vans to Orak Shriners for the transportation of patients. In addition, Noble Alex organizes and facilitates numerous fundraisers throughout the year, and has raised thousands of dollars for the Chicago Shriners Hospital.
A Cherished Treasure of Orak Shriners
Realizing the importance of membership and the role it plays in the success of the fraternity and its philanthropy, Noble Alex has sponsored numerous candidates for membership in Shriners International. He has become a key resource for new members, performing a highly appreciated role in his temple.
