Noble Cody P. Conway of Kerak Shriners in Reno, Nev., has been named Shriner of the Month for June 2014. The new award program, which launched in January 2014, was developed by the leadership of Shriners International to recognize those nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children. Personal displays of leadership, especially by example, and consistent participation in temple activities and efforts, and/or support of the health care system, all contribute to consideration for the award.
The Future of Shriners International
Noble Conway of Fernley, Nev., is what many would call a “new” Shriner, joining the fraternity in 2012. Members of the Kerak Divan unanimously describe him as “positive, considerate, and compassionate; he is always there for whatever you need him for.” A husband, father, and United States Marine Corps veteran, honorably discharged after serving in the Middle East, Noble Conway is “the epitome of the future of our organization. Not only is he full of energy and enthusiasm, but his family is right there with him,” said Illustrious Sir Gene G. Fox, Potentate of Kerak Shriners.
In addition to helping to plan and cook the Stated Meeting dinners, Noble Conway has already established himself as a staple in the temple’s circus, serving as one of the Kerak Klowns. In fact, his wife, Samantha, and his 3-year-old daughter, Kirstin, have become especially involved with the Kerak Circus, as well. Kirstin is already known for appearing alongside her father as Lima Bean the Clown, named after her favorite food. Noble Conway performs at special events in the community as both a clown and representative of Shriners International, and is very supportive of Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Bringing the Community Together
Noble Conway also serves as Master of his Lodge in Fernley. He realizes the importance of maintaining a strong Masonic family, and makes a great effort to pull the local Masons and Shriners together. An active, helpful hand in the community at large, “You would have to look far and wide to find a more caring person than Noble Conway,” said Noble Howard B. Elsfelder, Recorder of Kerak Shriners.
“We are lucky to have such a dedicated member within our organization,” said Shriners International Executive Vice President and Imperial Recorder Jack H. Jones. “Noble Conway is a great representation of the meaning behind the Shriner of the Month Award.”
Congratulations to Noble Conway for his achievements and for being chosen Shriner of the Month.
