Noble Matthew Q. Llewellyn of Akdar Shriners in Tulsa, Okla., has been named Shriner of the Month for August 2015. The award program was developed by the leadership of Shriners International to honor outstanding nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®.

Noble Llewellyn was born and raised in Tulsa, and comes from a big family – he has three brothers, one sister, dozens of cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. After Noble Llewellyn was raised a Master Mason at Sand Springs Lodge #475, he was able to raise his late father, Dennis Quinn Llewellyn, at Akdar Masonic Lodge, who later became a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
Noble Llewellyn has saved many lives through his career in emergency medical services. He is a paramedic at Creek County Ambulance, where he serves in many roles, including assistant education coordinator. He has received many awards throughout his career; most notably, he was the recipient of the Oklahoma Ambulance Association Star of Life Award, and the American Ambulance Association Star of Life Award, which was presented to him in Washington, D.C.

Noble Llewellyn is very involved in many aspects of Freemasonry. He is a member of Sand Springs Masonic Lodge and Tulsa Scottish Rite, serves as Marshal at Saba Grotto and has previously served as Marshal at Magic City Eastern Star. A member of Akdar Shriners since 2012, Noble Llewellyn is a Past Director of both the Scooter and Nomads units, and current Co-Chairman of the Membership Committee. He has also previously served as Chairman of the Akdar Poker Run and Murder Mystery fundraiser. Following the temple’s 2014 circus, Illustrious Sir Oscar Geilfuss presented Noble Llewellyn with a special Potentate’s Award on behalf of his faithful efforts. Noble Llewellyn is also a very talented magician, and has recently performed magic shows at several events, entertaining many of both Akdar Shriners’ “big kids,” and little kids. He is very dedicated to everything he does – from his personal life to his career – especially his Masonic family. Akdar Shriners is extremely grateful for Noble Llewellyn and all he does for their surrounding community and the Masonic fraternity as a whole.
